Lush Lip Scrubs

I'm not sure if many companies actually produce lip scrubs - I know the only ones I've ever heard much about are the Lush lip scrubs and some others which are stupidly expensive so needless to say I haven't ventured into trying them. I am, however, a big fan of Lush's offerings.

The two I have are the infamous Bubblegum one, and Lush's seasonal offering, the Santa lip scrub. Both claim to buff away dry/dead skin and leave your lips super smooth and soft. Surprisingly, the two actually have very different textures - the Bubblegum scrub is quite grainy and doesn't hold together all that well, and the Santa scrub feels less harsh but is actually easier to use as it holds together and is easier to get out of the tub. 

The two sugar scrubs are edible - meaning that once you have buffed your lips with them, you can lick your lips rather than remove the product with tissue/a cotton pad. This is a nice concept, although I am aware some people would find this rather disgusting! The bubblegum scrub is (obviously) bubblegum flavoured, and tastes amazing. The Santa scrub is supposedly cherry cola flavoured, although I can't say it actually tastes of cherry coke. It does have a pleasant taste though, which is good.

The Santa scrub actually came with little red hearts on top of the scrub, which looked nice and cute but I have to say they added nothing to the scrub - they seemed to stick to my lips and teeth and tasted horrible! They are just on the top of the scrub though so once you've used the top layer they aren't an issue.

I do like these - they leave your lips extremely soft and would make your lips a nice smooth canvas to apply lipstick should you wish, and the bubblegum one especially tastes amazing. I do think they're slightly overpriced as you could make them yourself since they are predominantly sugar and oil, but I do think they are a nice addition to your collection!

Lush Phoenix Rising Bath Ballistic

Today I have another Lush review for you! I don't know about you lot, but as soon as the nights start getting earlier, I have loads of baths! There's something lovely about being in the bath when it's pitch black and raining outside :)

 

This is another bath ballistic I picked up from Lush the other week, and another one I had seen some rave reviews on. I also picked it up because it's glittery!

 

 

 

You can't really see on the picture above, but the ballistic is a pinky purple colour with gold glitter on top. I believe this is meant to have a cinnamon stick on the top as well, which mine didn't and I'm pretty gutted about!

 

Lush say this bath ballistic contains shea butter, cocoa butter and jojoba oil, which will leave your skin 'feather soft', with 'exotic essential oils of fruits and spices'.

 

This is from Lush's permenant range, but in my opinion it is a very wintery scent. It smells of cinnamon which I personally love, and it's very spicy. This smell always reminds me of Christmas which is always a good thing!

 

The bath ballistic istelf is actually purple, but when you pop it into your bath, you will see that the centre of it is green!

The second picture is more true to life in terms of colour, it was pinky purple, not blood red like it appears in the first photo! You can see in the corners of both pictures some of the green centre of the bath bomb. It didn't make a difference to the colour of the water, but it was fun to watch it fizzing away in the bath!

 

This made my water feel very silky, and it did make my skin soft. The only slight complaint I have about it is that my skin did feel ever so slightly greasy when I got out of the bath. I hate anything greasy, but I would definitely buy this again, so the greasiness can't be too bad!

 

I would recommend this to a friend. It's quite expensive, but it's also quite big so you could probably get a couple of baths from it if you broke it up.

Lush Ickle Baby Bot Bath Ballistic

It's been so long since I have used a Lush bath bomb, so I decided to treat myself to a couple last week. One of the ones I picked up was this one - Ickle Baby Bot. I had seen this on some blogs, and as soon as I saw it in the shop I had to have it. It is quite literally the cutest thing I have ever seen!

 

 

 

Ickle Baby Bot is a light blue coloured robot! From the description on Lush's website, it seems as if it's aimed for use with little children, but I personally love it (even if I am 19!). This contains "essential oils which have been specifically selected for being soothing and calming for baby" and claims to be "mild, gentle and soothing for skin".

It contains Lavender oil so obviously, it smells like lavender! I know this isn't everyone's bag, but I love the smell of lavender, I find it very calming and relaxing.

It also made my bathroom smell lovely for hours after I used it, and turned my bath water a lovely colour:



I can't say that it made me fall asleep like it claims to, but it was really relaxing to use in the bath. I used the whole ballistic in one bath as it isn't the biggest bath bomb going.

I really do like this bath ballistic, and will probably be making a sneaky online Lush order soon as I don't have a Lush store near to me!

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel

Hey everyone,

 

"The sweetest thing, Snow Fairy is back again this year! Cheering up your shower yet again with her candyfloss scent and lovely pink glittering foam. Get your wings fluttering and lather up with this little cutie. She will surely wake the little fairy within you - even in you tough-looking blokes!"

 

It's back! I am sure the majority of you will have heard of this particular shower gel - it's one of Lush's best selling items, but unfortunately it is only available during the Christmas period. I have got through a few bottles of this over the years, and I couldn't resist picking one up when I popped into lush the other day.

 

 

 

 

If my memory serves me right, I think the packaging has changed! From what I remember, this used to have the standard black Lush label on, but this bottle has a bright pink label with stars on!

 

The shower gel itself is a bright pink colour, and actually contains a blue-y glitter, which you can sort of see here:

 

 

First things first, this smells AMAZING. It won't be to everyone's taste as it's extremely sweet-smelling. Lush describe it as smelling of "candyfloss and pear drops", a scent which "transports you back to days of standing in the sweet shop with your pocket money clasped in your fist, trying to decide what to buy". I have to say, this description is pretty much spot on. It smells just like candyfloss, and it certainly does remind you of a sweet shop.

 

This can be used in many ways too. The obvious use is as a normal shower gel, but it can also be used as a shampoo, and even as a detergent when doing your washing. I haven't ever used it as a detergent so can't comment on that use, but it does make a good shampoo, and leaves your hair smelling lovely and sweet.

 

Used as a shower gel, the smell lingers on your skin for a good while afterwards, which I love as I can not get enough of the smell. Although it contains glitter, the glitter doesn't stick to your skin, and doesn't stay in your hair if you use this as a shampoo either.

 

Overall, I really recommend this. If you have a Lush shop nearby, just go and smell this if you haven't already, I promise you won't regret it.

 

It is expensive for a shower gel (as many Lush products are), but in my opinion, it's totally worth it. Prices are:
